On the way to Willow Creek, stop by Cuthills Vineyards, Nebraska’s first winery. Years ago, experts told Ed Swanson that he’d never grow good wine grapes in Nebraska. He proved them wrong, and produces award-winning wines. Across the state, many grape-growers and vintners have followed Swanson’s lead. The winery holds an annual wine and blues music festival each summer, and is open Jan-April, Fri-Sun, 1-5 p.m.; May-Dec, Wed-Sat, 11 a.m.-6 p.m., Sun 1-6 p.m. Closed holidays. Tours are available. The Klown Doll Museum has more than 2,800 clown dolls of all sizes. Located across from Chilvers Park at the corner of Highway 20 and Maple Street, the building also houses the Chamber of Commerce information center. Admission is free and the museum is open Memorial Day-Labor Day, Monday-Friday, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. and Saturday, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. The rest of the year it is open Monday through Friday, 1-5 p.m., or by appointment.
